Asean Sourcing Bali – Indonesia contributed to the FF&E sourcing, product development, and production coordination for the Sublime Hotel & Spa, a highly regarded luxury destination nestled on a 17-hectare estate of umbrella pines, cork trees, wild dunes, and more than 60 km of pristine white-sand beaches on Portugal’s Alentejo coast. The resort has become one of the region’s most talked-about hospitality properties, blending a quiet, nature-first sensibility with high-end design and experiential living.
Sublime’s story began not as a brand but as a family vision. As founder Gonçalo Pessoa explained,
“The original idea was to build a house for our family holidays but halfway we decided to transform it into a small boutique hotel”
—a decision that reshaped the landscape of luxury hospitality in Comporta. That initial retreat opened with just 14 rooms, a spa, and a restaurant, and over time expanded into the acclaimed resort known today.
Design at Sublime is grounded in understated materiality and connection to nature. Public spaces and guest rooms foreground natural materials, soft palettes, and geometry that allows indoor and outdoor environments to feel fluid and contiguous with the landscape—a design strategy recognized in international reviews for its restraint and harmony with local context. In this setting, Asean Sourcing’s role was to align FF&E decisions with that subtle architectural narrative, ensuring furniture, finishes, and custom elements supported the quiet luxury ethos of the resort.
Our work included product sourcing, and development of physical samples, reviewed and refined in collaboration with designers to respect scale, texture, and materiality. Production and quality control monitoring in Indonesia ensured that the pieces delivered matched design intent without compromise—especially important in a project where natural tones, tactile woods, and handcrafted elements are central to guest experience.
Beyond interiors, Sublime’s reputation continues to grow as a lifestyle destination. The resort’s culinary offerings have expanded with concepts like Canalha Comporta, led by renowned Portuguese chef João Rodrigues, reinforcing Sublime’s commitment to gastronomy and local produce, and complementing the immersive spa and wellness environment.
